The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is in the process of developing an elevated stretch to connect the Dwarka Expressway with the Gurgaon-Sohna Alwar elevated road at Vatika Chowk. This initiative is aimed at addressing the escalating traffic congestion along the surface route between Vatika Chowk and Bhondsi.
Over the past two decades, Sohna has emerged as a prime real estate zone. Significant infrastructure development in the Delhi NCR region, particularly in Gurgaon, over the last five years has led to substantial growth in economic activities and population in Sohna. Consequently, Sohna has witnessed the highest growth rate in the real estate sector and is now excellently connected by roads and highways. However, this growth has also resulted in traffic challenges along the Gurgaon-Sohna Road, particularly between Faridabad, Sohna, Manesar, Rewari, Dharuhera, Bhiwadi, and Gurgaon.
In response, the GMDA is contemplating the construction of an elevated corridor to seamlessly link the two elevated highways. This corridor aims to ensure that commuters from Dwarka Expressway to Sohna can bypass surface roads and avoid merging into traffic at Vatika Chowk. The proposed elevated road will effectively connect the cloverleaf on the Dwarka Expressway to Vatika Chowk.
This project signifies a significant milestone in transforming traffic movement, facilitating hassle-free commuting between West Delhi, Gurgaon, Sohna, Manesar, and Rajasthan.
Real estate promoter Signature Global has expressed support for this initiative, emphasizing the need for smooth traffic flow between Sohna, Manesar, Gurgaon, and Faridabad to enhance economic activities.
Currently, surface traffic on the Gurgaon-Sohna highway, particularly from Rajiv Chowk to Bhondsi, faces significant challenges. The opening of the DMIC stretch has accelerated urban development in the district, leading to a remarkable increase in traffic volume. To address these issues effectively, a holistic road infrastructure synchronized with the demands of Gurgaon’s suburbs is essential. Gurgaon is poised to surpass many cities globally and is considered a top city in India. Therefore, it is imperative to invest in local road and metro infrastructure to meet the growing demand.
