Global City is a big dream project of Gurugram and the project was aimed to provide a larger platform to global participants and thankfully the Punjab and Haryana High Court, recently, cleared all the legal hurdles, and the Haryana government gave a go ahead signal for the Global City project, to be set up on the land owned by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) in the district Gurugram. The proposal had been pending for over a decade at least. The Global City project is to be developed on land more than a thousand acres.
The development of such a major project at Manesar is to prove a significant milestone for the district – a rapidly growing city in the National Capital Region.
With such ambitious project the HSIIDC promises to transform the region by creating a world-class infrastructure, attracting handsome investments and businesses, and generating employment opportunities for people in large including the local population which is expected to have a positive impact on the Gurugram’s economy, environment, and social fabric of the region, and making it a source of pride for city residents as described by Haryana chief minister repeatedly in his public addresses stressing out of world’s Fortune companies mostly have their offices here in Gurugram and it has now become an international city.
The 1003 acres of HSIIDC land will span over many villages – Khandsa, Narsinghpur, Mohammadpur Jharsa, Garauli Khurd and Garhi Harsaru in the Gurugram district where the mega project of Global City is being developed. Road, water and other arrangements will be provided by HSIIDC.
Earlier, the HSIIDC had filed applications before the Punjab and Haryana high court seeking a vacation of the stay on land parcels. The acquisition of land by HSIIDC was challenged by locals alleging that 1,383 acres which was acquired by the state for public purpose was transferred to a joint venture company, and therefore the acquisition was illegal.
After court acquitted from legal hurdle the HSIIDC decided that sites earmarked for the Global City project now be floated and put up for e-auction – a big announcement of the year and another prestigious project for the HSIIDC after a long span of time since the development of IMT Manesar at least two decades ago. Manesar is a big name in the world in terms of industrial hub and a wonderful combination of residential, commercial and industrial areas.
“The Global City, a mixed land use township in Gurugram, will be developed on about 1,000 acres to redefine the concept of urban development and what cities of the future shall look like through its sustainability-focused infrastructure planning and design,” said an HSIIDC official hoping it would accelerate economic activities in the state.
